Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity within the Acute Inpatient Mental Health Services for a Ward Manager on Oakburn Ward. Oakburn ward is a male acute mental health ward.
We are looking for someone who is prepared to lead creatively, committed to improving patient and family carer experience, and who will lead and motivate the team to strive for continuous improvement through the development of pathways with across Mental Health Services and with partner organisations in the acute, voluntary and community sectors.
Areas of focus will include creating a safe and caring culture, quality and safety agendas, safer staffing, meeting key performance indicators, roster management, lessons learnt and enabling development of the team.

Main duties of the job
Job Purpose:
The post holder will have leadership and managerial responsibility for a team of clinicians and support workers and will act as a role model within the service to uphold the professionalism of the service.
- To foster a culture of professional development, team support and excellent standards of care.
- Have continuing responsibility for an innovative high quality mental health service.
- To deputise for the Clinical Manager as and when required.
- Responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of all resources,
including staff deployment.
- Responsible for managing a delegated budget and working within this under the leadership of the Clinical Manager.
- Ensure that staff work within the competency of their role.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working at senior nurse level (band 6 or equivalent) together with experience of managing staff.
- Clinical experience including experience of risk assessment, assessing patients and creating/implementing and evaluating care plans etc.
- Experience of staff supervision and supporting students
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a inpatient mental health Service environment
