Are you an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), Theatre Practitioner, or Registered Nurse with a passion for delivering outstanding care?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our supportive and visionary obstetric theatre team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to take on the role of rostered scrub practitioner for both emergency and elective maternity theatre cases. You’ll play a key part in helping us deliver safe, high-quality care to our patients within the diverse community that we serve.

Following a comprehensive orientation and training programme, you will have the opportunity to work across the wider theatre environments within the Trust. This will give you valuable exposure to a range of surgical specialities, broaden your professional experience, and support your ongoing career development within a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic opportunity for theatre practitioners and registered nurses to enhance, expand and develop their existing skills and knowledge in obstetrics and gynecology. Whether you're already experienced in theatre or looking to specialise further, we will support your professional development every step of the way.

as part of the team you will be required to :

  • Act as the scrub practitioner for emergency and elective obstetric theatre cases, ensuring safe and effective perioperative care.

  • Provide skilled assistance during caesarean sections, instrumental deliveries, and other obstetric surgical procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, efficient, and responsive theatre environment.

  • Adhere to Trust protocols and national guidelines, including ‘8 Steps to Safer Surgery’ and the ‘One Together’ standards to reduce surgical site infections.

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.

  • Take part in ongoing training and competency development, including opportunities to rotate and gain experience across the Trust’s wider theatre services.

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and patient safety.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with governance and infection prevention protocols.
