Are you passionate about working with adults with a learning disability? Are you looking for a new challenge to develop your skills within this specialism?

This is a new opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join an established Occupational therapy team working across inpatient and community learning disability services.

The post holder will work within the specialist inpatient service (Najurally Centre) 22.5 hours a week.  These hours can be worked flexibly depending on the needs of the service. 15 hours will be worked in the Community Team for Adults with a Learning Disability based at Waddiloves Health Centre in Bradford, working across Bradford, Craven and Keighley.

This is a full-time post with an option for flexible working.  

 

Main duties of the job

The team are passionate about delivering high quality care for adults with a learning disability who require specialist health support . This includes needs related to their physical health , mental health, sensory impairment , communication, or behavioural presentation

The post is well supported by an Occupational Therapy Team and there is also support from a part time Band 7 within the inpatient services.

The Learning Disability Teams are friendly and supportive. The role and skills of an Occupational Therapist are valued, and the job provides the opportunity to use all your OT core skills.

The OT role sits within a full multidisciplinary team with opportunities to work alongside all professionals.

There are excellent CPD opportunities for ongoing professional development.

  • • State registered with the Health Professions Council

  • • Short specialist course/s with relevance to specialist clinical area

Experience

  • • Experience of working in learning disability services and/or with other vulnerable groups.
  • • Experience supervising students
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience in the provision of specialist equipment to promote independence and occupational participation
  • • In patient mental health experience
