Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist looking for a new and exciting challenge to develop your skills within an inpatient older peoples mental health care setting? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a for  Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our well-established team at Lynfield Mount Hospital.

The opportunity is based on the Dementia Assessment Unit working with older adult with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

As a senior occupational therapist, you will complete comprehensive assessments of functional ability, deliver individualised treatment plans and support recovery and transition from hospital to home or cares setting.  You will work collaboratively with the wider MDT both on the ward and in the community.  In addition you will be responsible for the support and development of the occupational therapy and activity team at the unit.

We are seeking an innovative practitioner, able to drive service development, manage a complex caseload, and support the leadership within the occupational therapy and activity team on the Dementia Assessment Unit.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Occupational Therapist registration HCPC
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
  • Practice education training/qualification (i.e. APPLE)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience with older adults including experience of risk assessment, assessing patients and creating/implementing and evaluating care plans
  • Experience of supervising and delegation to staff
  • Experience of providing teaching and education to staff.

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Post grad training e.g. motivational interviewing, counselling, solution focussed therapy, dementia awareness, dementia care mapping, AMPS, sensory integration, intensive interaction
