CORE CAMHS has an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner. This is a fixed term role for 18 months.

As a senior mental health practitioner, you will be working as part of the Core CAMHS Team which supports children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties through the provision of assessment, evidence based individual and group intervention and joint casework with other CAMHS teams where clinically indicated.

They will be responsible for supporting members of the team from a multi-disciplinary perspective leading clinical discussions and supporting the formulation of children and young people to ensure there needs are met in line with their moderate to severe mental health presentations

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Core CAMHS Team which supports children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties through the provision of assessment, evidence based individual and group intervention and joint casework with other CAMHS teams where clinically indicated. . 

To make autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice within the context of multidisciplinary team approach. 

To provide specialist supervision, consultation, teaching and training to colleagues in children’s health and education services as required on issues relating to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties 

To contribute to service development and delivery activities both internally and in partnerships with key stakeholders

Operational duties relating to the Core CAMHS team.

Core CAMHS is a multi-disciplinary team at the heart of CAMHS. We deliver a range of therapeutic interventions to support patients with a wide range of mental health presentations. We support children and young people with moderate to severe mental health presentations. As a senior mental health practitioner, you will be joining an established leadership team supporting the CORE team. The team supports a wide range of complex and challenging presentations as a senior mental health practitioner the role will include support the team with challenging presentations and formulating care plans that meet the individual need of the young people.

Do you possess excellent communication and organisational skills?

There are clear pathways within the service embedding multidisciplinary working. These consist of an intervention and assessment pathway, as a senior mental health practitioner you would be supporting the continual development of these pathways and service improvement.

Given the moderate to sever mental health presentations we support effective communication skills are needed to support children and young people including there families but also wider professional networks such as social care as well as other departments within CAMHS and the wider health network.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker
  • Hold professional registration with relevant professional body
  • Post graduate therapy qualification(s) in a modality relevant to the clinical application with children, young people and families/carers.

Experience

  • Substantial post qualification experience, some of which must be working with children, young people and their families/carers in a mental health or other complex care setting
