Applications are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Haematology at Bradford Teaching Hospitals. There are 3 separate posts in total so please be careful to apply for the correct post. The posts are Lymphoma/Thrombosis, Lymphoma/Myeloid and Non-malignant post.
This job post is - Consultant Haematologist (with a special interest in Lymphoma and Myeloid)
Should an applicant be interested in doing a combination of non-malignant and myeloma work this would be a very reasonable possibility so please approach us as soon as possible. They are all 10 PA posts in Haematology.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the usual clinical activities of the department which is not confined to but includes triaging of referrals, Outpatient clinics, E-Consults , laboratory work, MDT attendance and participating in the acute ward Consultant of the Week rota with 1:6 commitments. The consultant will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their clinics and in partnership with colleagues.
The post-holder will also be expected to bolster the recruitment of new patients to haematology research trials.
The additional duties and responsibilities of the post are as expected in any DGH with specialist services and to provide assistance within the scope of the department as and when this is required. There will be an expectation that the post holder will contribute to the management of the department and support with service developments to enhance patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The job plan is designed around a Consultant Haematologist with a specific interest in Lymphoma and Myeloid malignancy.
The other clinical sessions are more flexible and will need to take into account any gaps in the service provision, so while this is currently allocated to Myeloma this could change and may also include non-malignant haematology or red cell disorders.
The post holder would be expected to take part in the Acute Consultant Week which includes covering all haematological malignancy, general haematology, haemophilia and haemoglobinopathy / red cell disorders.
There is additional regional tertiary support for the haemophilia service and haemoglobinopathy service. This acute week cannot be worked part-time to ensure there is continuity of care to the patients on the ward.
