We are delighted to be recruiting a Technical Project Manager to work in our Digital,, Data & Technology Department.  

The Project Manager will be an integral part of the development and delivery of the Trust’s vision to be a truly digital healthcare organisation, supported by a solid foundation of infrastructure and innovative use of communication technology to enable excellence.

Main duties of the job

The main elements of the role include:

  • Project managing a number of technical interlinked projects within the portfolio.
  • Researching, supporting, facilitating and monitoring and reporting on project progress, escalating issues when required.
  • Supporting performance improvement.
  • Matrix management of staff assigned to the projects as required.

 The role reports to the Chief Technology Officer and will take ownership of a range of projects, in accordance with best practice project management and Agile principles. 

The Project Manager will manage technical projects from initiation to closure; including design, planning, execution, control, transition and transfer. The project will be managed in-line with standard Informatics processes and reporting standards; encompassing all aspects of Informatics services, process redesign, and interfaces with other parties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

•          Develop planning for the implementations of multiple technical projects running concurrently and sharing resources

•           Hold and manage the relevant project budgets within BTHFT

•           Investigate and understand the business needs of user departments and build statements of requirements to meet both these and overall BTHFT operational requirements and service improvement strategies

•           Negotiate contractual agreements with suppliers

•           Liaise with suppliers and other Informatics departments in the planning and implementation of systems

•           Ensure that all projects are effectively defined, planned and delivered to meet the required statutory and service obligations of BTHFT

 

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of applying PRINCE2 project management methodology to projects including large and / or complex projects
  • Experience of managing teams of varying sizes and skills sets on a line management and / or matrix management basis
  • Experience of conveying complex concepts and issues to all levels of staff
  • Track record of successful project management
  • Experience of delivering change management projects
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS with clinicians and senior managers

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to quickly assimilate practices in various specialist areas

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
