We are looking for a Senior Research Fellow to lead quantitative research projects, and support knowledge mobilisation efforts.
Key areas of work will include:
· Applied epidemiology – describing large cohorts, investigating risk factors
· Evaluation – collaborating with data-science colleagues to evaluate study interventions
Research impact – co-producing research priorities to ensure meaningful research that has lasting impact
Main duties of the job
You will be part of Born in Bradford and the Bradford HDRC and EQUALISE research programmes, which will provide a professional network and development opportunities locally and nationally. The postholder will work with collaborators across these three programmes to identify research priorities and opportunities within the BiB data, initially focussing on early years education uptake and the impact of interventions within the early years, with potential for involvement in other research projects over time. The post-holder will also be embedded within Bradford Council as a part of the HDRC programme and will coproduce and develop their research questions and methods with district residents and with council staff, as well as disseminating findings and recommendations to ensure meaningful and lasting impact.

Essential criteria
- Experience of project management
- Relevant research experience in the field of epidemiology or biostatistics
- An academic track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experienced in advanced quantitative data analysis
- Experience of working in collaborative research groups including NHS, academics and other stakeholders
- Experience of collecting, processing and analysing research and routinely-collected health data
- Experience of disseminating complex research findings in accessible formats to different stakeholder groups including clinicians and the general public
Desirable criteria
- Demonstration of effective management and mentorship of research staff
- Experience of patient and public involvement in research
- Successful grant applications
- Previous experience of developing research proposals and funding applications in the field of epidemiology, biostatistics or public health.
- Experience of harmonising data from population based cohorts and routinely-collected data
- Experience of conducting methodological studies

Essential criteria
- Able to perform a range of statistical quantitative and analysis techniques
- Excellent written and presentational communication skills appropriate for a range of different stakeholders
- Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft office (word, powerpoint, excel, access databases) and database software (e.g. SQL)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate a strategic overview into operational plans
- Ability to motivate staff and implement best practice
- Facilitation skills and the ability to work with, and co-ordinate the work of groups of senior researchers
- Good time management skills and ability to plan and implement objectives effectively
- Ability to manage and analyse large datasets using appropriate statistical software (e.g. R or Stata)

- Demonstrated facilitative and negotiating skills
- Use of digital platforms (e.g. social media) to disseminate research findings

- Underpinning knowledge of cohort studies and complex epidemiological analysis
- Knowledge of procedures for NHS ethical approvals

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant epidemiological, biomedical or statistical subject.
- Demonstrable relevant medical statistics/epidemiology work experience

- PhD in a relevant subject area
