Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic and cohesive team. We are a high volume Robotic pelvic and upper tract cancer centre, with 250 procedures performed in 2018. We also have a high volume of upper tract benign work (endourology), including ultra-mini PCNL, a dedicated stone MDT, metabolic clinics and on-site ESWL. Working mainly at Bradford Royal Infirmary, there will be opportunity for a tailored job plan to take advantage of training opportunities in either robotic uro-oncology, upper tract/endo-urology, functional urology and general urology.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post are:
- Theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, diagnostic sessions and on call cover.
- The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the urology teaching programme.
- Active involvement with clinical governance.
- On call non-resident 24 hour midweek with post-take half day (1:6) and non-resident 48-hour weekend with post-take day off (1:6) (further zero days to be added to ensure EWTD and New contract terms and conditions compliant).
- Audit, research and publication will be actively encouraged.

Essential criteria
- Previous experience relevant to the specialty – Urology
- Applicant knowledge is up to date and is fit to practise safely
- Commitment for managing professional development
- Clinical governance / audit experience
- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
- Out of hours experience relevant to job.
- Experience in the specialty at CT2 or equivalent
- Previous NHS experience – 6 month

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
- MRCS
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
- Evidence of achievement of ST1 / CT1 competencies in the specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2 / CT2 competences in specialty by the start date of the post [In some specialties this level of specialty or core training may not provide the right skills to perform effectively in a specialty doctor post].
Desirable criteria
- FRCS (Urol) or equivalent
- Specialty specific requirements eg MRCP, FRCS, etc where appropriate
