An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Urologist at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new post in an expanding team. We are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant with a special interest in Endourology and Core Urology. The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated and successful team which has an excellent track record in clinical service delivery and both regional and national teaching & training. The Foundation Trust has Cancer Centre status and serves the patients of Bradford, Airedale, Calderdale and Huddersfield for radical pelvic surgery.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust as we are in the process of building the brand new state-of-the-art Day Case Unit at St Lukes Hospital to deliver planned surgery. This will provide additional resilience to the NHS in Bradford and help future-proof this service for local patients.  It will help tackle local health inequalities while promoting the best outcomes for patients and providing new employment opportunities for local people.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work closely with the current Endourology and Core Consultants to deliver services at Bradford Royal Infirmary and the new day unit based at nearby St Lukes Hospital.

The successful applicant will be a team player who is willing to be flexible and develop skills with other team members. In addition, we are looking for a surgeon who will contribute to audit, participate in and initiate research and who will be actively involved in clinical governance, administration and other management tasks. Alongside these aspects, the appointee will participate in the training of medical students and junior doctors.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop an area of subspecialist interest.

The post holder will participate in a 1 in 10 midweek and weekend on-call rota with 24 hour support provided by the 6 middle grades.
