You will work within Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies, providing assessment and treatment, whilst studying and undertaking the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners Programme PGCert at the University of Sheffield

On an average working week, you would be based within a community venue within Bradford, Airedale Wharfedale and Craven (2 days), attending university (1 day) and working remotely (2 days).  Please note, that this remains subject to change.

Successful external candidates will be offered a 12-month fixed term contract.  Successful internal candidates will be offered a 12-month secondment. 

It is a requirement that you pass the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners Programme PGCert course in order to be eligible to apply for any permanent qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Band 5) positions that may be available at the end of your training.

Main duties of the job

Low intensity therapy is a highly valued and fundamental part of what we do. 

Our trainee and qualified PWPs provide assessment and evidence based, guided self-help treatment for people with mild to moderate anxiety disorders and/or depression.  Treatment modalities include psychoeducational groups, 1-1 face-to-face/remote guided-self help sessions and computerised-CBT (CBT) treatment via SilverCloud.  

You will progress to work with a high degree of autonomy and high volume caseload, while receiving support via weekly clinical caseload management, fortnightly clinical skills group supervision and monthly line management supervision, facilitated by qualified clinicians.  

You must be able to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication and be able to establish meaningful, therapeutic relationships with people.  In addition to clinical contact, the role includes data collection/management, record keeping and community engagement/outreach activities.   

You will be thoroughly supported on your training journey to becoming a PWP, through our tailored induction, regular supervision and CPD opportunities.  

Once qualified, our PWP's are require to join the BABCP or BPS as registered practitioners.  After qualifying, you will be offered to enroll on our PWP Preceptorship Programme, offering further development of your clinical skill and competence.

Qualfication

Essential criteria
  • Undergraduate degree or evidence of ability to study successfully at level 6 (third year of undergraduate degree)
Desirable criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in a health or psychology related subject.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years experience of working with mental health service users in a statutory or voluntary capacity or life experience of coping with mental health problems, i.e. active carer role, or have undertaken volunteering etc
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of co facilitating groups and/or experience of working in a team

Training

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to complete 1 year LI CBT training

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of issues relating to mental health, mental health problems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
