Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to invite applications for a 12‑month, 2PA Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a special interest in reproductive health.
This role will have a predominant focus on reproductive health, supporting the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care within our well‑established Women’s Health services.
We are seeking enthusiastic, dynamic and forward‑thinking clinicians who are passionate about collaborative working and committed to providing safe, high‑quality care. The successful candidate will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to the ongoing development of reproductive health services within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
This role will have a predominant focus on reproductive health and involves providing consultant‑led care within our standalone Reproductive Health Unit at Broad Street Plaza, located in the heart of Halifax. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, accessible care within this dedicated facility.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the reproductive health element of the Trust’s gynaecology services. Responsibilities include active participation in teaching and supervision, fostering effective teamworking, and supporting the ongoing development of services. The role also includes involvement in audit, clinical governance, and service improvement initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Person Specification (Essential)
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- CCT (or within six months of obtaining) in Gynaecology.
- Broad experience in Gynaecology.
- Evidence of teamwork, flexibility, and excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to clinical governance, audit, and teaching.
Desirable
- Subspecialty or special interest that complements the department.
- Involvement in service development and innovation.
- Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching.
On-Call Commitments
- Alternating Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call split rota.
- Resident cover during evenings and weekends as specified.
- Four “hot weeks” of acute cover annually.

Essential criteria
- MRCOG or equivalent
- Applicants must have GMC Registration with a License to Practice
- All applicants must have Specialist registration for Obstetrics & Gynaecology (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration2

Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialty
- ATSM in Advanced labour ward practice, high risk pregnancy, Maternal medicine
Desirable criteria
- Understanding current issues within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the future direction of the specialty
- Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
- Attendance at a recognised management course
- Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
- ATSM in Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy or Benign Gynaecology
Teaching and Training
Essential criteria
- Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
- Training in clinical and educational supervision
- Attendance at a teaching course
- Formal qualification in teaching/education

- An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service
