Job overview
We are inviting applications in the Emergency Medicine Department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for Trust doctors at CT1/2 Level.
The role will be a junior, entirely clinical, role within the department and the successful candidate will work with the current team in supporting and developing the department. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is heavily invested in providing an excellent Urgent and Emergency Care system for our population. We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic doctors to provide care in the Emergency Departments and/or our Urgent SDEC (uSDEC).
This is a Full-Time post providing with basic hours of 40 hours per week, but applicants wishing to work part-time are also encouraged to apply and rotas will be adjusted accordingly, and by negotiation with appointees
This job would be ideally suited for doctors taking time out after the completion of their foundation training who have a keen interest in a career in emergency medicine and would like to develop their portfolio.
Main duties of the job
Although not recognised training posts, there is access to regular weekly teaching with the intention that the service commitment, supervision level and educational opportunities will be equivalent to that of our existing trainees and mirrors a training post in every way. You will be offered first class training and development opportunities to enhance your career.
You will be expected to:
• Comply with the UEC and Trust’s policies, and to maintain your skills and knowledge through CPD.
• Participate in the day-to-day training and with all other training/teaching activities facilitated by the department.
• To cover his/her colleagues for unpredicted short-term absence.
• Take an active role in clinical audit and the clinical governance process
• Will ensure their own practice is up to date: this will include taking responsibility for own clinical professional development and participation in the Trust appraisal system.
• Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers.
• Register with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine/Royal College of Medicine for CPD

Essential criteria
- Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
Desirable criteria
- Relevant higher degree
- MRCP/MRCEM or equivalent
Experience and Achievements

- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Emergency Medicine specialty

- Understanding current issues within Emergency Medicine and the future direction of the specialty

- Attendance at a recognised management course

Teaching and Training
Essential criteria
- Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.

- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
- For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening
- An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
