Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Oncology and Haematology helpline team for band 3 Clinical Support Workers. The post will involve answering the helpline calls and signposting patients to the correct place to help them. It will also involve assessing patients including their vital signs, ECG's, venepuncture and cannulation. Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the ward or department team in providing compassionate care to patients, service users, carers and families. This is a pivotal role that is essential in providing care and support to patients and service users through direct and indirect care, working within clearly defined limits and attainment of agreed competence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The main role of this post will be to answer the helpline calls using an algorithm. This will enable you to signpost/divert calls to the correct team for expert advice.
You will also be involved in the assessment process of patients as they arrive on the ward. This will include, Vital signs, ECG's, Venepuncture and cannulation.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Essential criteria
- English and Maths GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent or high level of literacy and numeracy skills demonstrated within application
- Competence-based level 3 Qualification e.g. NVQ or Diploma in Care or The Care Certificate issued by an employer
- Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role
- Competent in cannulation /venepuncture/plaster training and specialist dressings.
- Moving and Handling

- Competent / able to evidence the completion of Health Care Assistant core competencies
- ECG training and competency
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
