Main duties of the job

 

  • Ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained in accordance with department policies.
  • Correct and accurate completion of all documentation required for the effective maintenance of the departments Hazard analysis and critical control point system (HACCP) ie fridge temps food temperature logs cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure the safe removal and storage of all associated delivery items including trolleys, pallets, trays, and tubs.
  • Maintenance of the computer stock control system including booking all goods in and all subsequent stock movements. This requires accuracy to maintain stock level records
  • Liaising with suppliers, dealing with any order enquiries, delivery shortages. This may involve telephone conversations, the use of e-mail etc.
  • External ordering of departmental supplies ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Receiving and checking all goods inward includes dry goods, chilled goods, and frozen goods, for accuracy and where appropriate correct temperature control, signing drivers paperwork
  • Check date codes on all goods received. Frozen and chilled goods should be temperature controlled as soon as possible following receipt
  • Accurately pick and assemble orders from requisitions ensuring items are packed safely. Delivering goods to the correct location in a timely fashion.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for all goods inwards and stock movements relating to the catering stores, whilst maintaining strict hygiene practices and adhering to departmental policies and procedures.

 

This is a physically demanding role with lifting pulling and pushing involved.

Monday to Friday 6.30am to 2.30pm.

Desirable criteria
  • Basic Food hygiene certificate
  • Basic English and maths.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good food hygiene practices
  • Awareness of Health and Safety and manual handling techniques
  • Flexible able to multi task.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of good Lifting & handling Techniques.
  • Basic computer skills, menu mark stock control system, e-mail, excel

Experience

Essential criteria
  • The ability to communicate well with staff, patients and members of the public
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a large catering environment
  • Receiving Goods inwards
  • Experience of stock handling and control systems
  • To demonstrate a methodical and organised approach to work

General

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by the Company/Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
  • Able to fulfill the health requirements of the post as identified in the Job Description, taking into account any reasonable adjustments recommended by Occupational Health.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
