Pharmacy Operational Manager

Grade G

CHS is able to offer a wide range of services. Our scale enables us to offer competitive rates and we have a long track record of providing high quality, customer-focused services.

We offer comprehensive estates, facilities management, medical engineering, catering solutions and procurement services supporting the provision of safe, effective healthcare to our communities. We are committed to delivering our Green Plan goals of reducing carbon emissions, air pollution, waste generation and improving recycling throughout delivery of our services. We also enable profit to go back into patient care.

CHS recognises that its staff are its greatest asset and that its business is its people. The company aims to create an environment and culture of openness, trust and honesty.  We encourage and celebrate diversity because broader perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge will enrich and enhance the value we bring to each other, our clients, shareholders and other stakeholders.

Job overview

You will be a self-driven and patient focused pharmacy technician with experience at providing operational leadership to a pharmacy team. You will have a passion for developing the service and continuous improvement to provide the best patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide senior operational leadership for the outpatient pharmacy service across CRH and HRI, ensuring safe, efficient and patient centred delivery in line with SOPs, medicine legislation and CHS / CHFT policies
  • Manage people, capacity and resources (rota planning, workforce deployment, stock governance, system and facilities), acting as first line budget holder within delegated limits
  • Responsible for KPIs and continuous improvement. Lead audits, incident / near miss learning and strategic service development projects to improve flow, patient safety, patient experience and value for money

Working for our organisation

CHS is an exceptional place to work with many amazing teams of hard working and dedicated staff, delivering high standards of estates, facilities, clinical engineering and procurement services to Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and other customers. From May 2025 CHS started to provide the pharmacy outpatient dispensing service for CHFT patients.

The Trust itself is currently reconfiguring its services, supported by £196.5m of capital funding from the Department of Health and Social Care to invest in local health services at both Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI). This is a significant investment and an opportunity to enhance services for our populations in Calderdale, Huddersfield and West Yorkshire for generations to come.

These developments will provide better care for patients in modern, comfortable surroundings and support delivery of leading-edge hospital services as well as providing an exceptional and environmentally sustainable working environment to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce.

Obviously, this is an exciting time for us as we continue to develop our commercial strategy and bring services in-house. We are ensuring that the organisation is fit for purpose by embedding our values and behaviours. The four key behaviours underpinning the whole of our strategy are:

·       We put the patient first.

·       We ’go see’.

·       We work together to get results.

·       We do the must-dos.
