Job overview

The Stock Controller and Workshop Support operative is responsible for ensuring the efficient ordering, storage, control, and distribution of parts, equipment, and consumables within the wheelchair servicing workshop. The role supports workshop technicians by maintaining accurate stock levels, managing deliveries and billing, and keeping the workshop and service vans well stocked, safe and tidy, and informing Trust specialists on timelines and progress of parts acquisition.

 

To support the day to day running of the Mobility Engineering team.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that orders for goods and services are placed and delivered in a timely manner in accordance with procedures.

 To Assist the Facilities Manager to develop, implement and improve working methodologies and procedures in order to maintain service delivery.

To Assist the Facilities Manager in creating a culture which will ensure the delivery of a professional Stock Control service which will be fit for purpose.

Support work towards identification of savings opportunities monitoring and reporting progress as required.

To maintain the workshop and storage areas in compliance with Health and Safety and Fire Officer guidance.

 To support the Mobility Engineers by maintaining an efficient working environment and stock management system.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A good level of general education ( English and Maths GCSE or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in an engineering/vehicle repair/fabrication environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to review information accurately, identify discrepancies and follow agreed assurance processes
  • Ability to maintain and update orders, prices and stock lists
  • Able to raise concerns appropriately and professionally
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of wheelchair or mobility equipment parts.
  • Experience with purchase orders and invoicing processes.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving skills.
  • Customer relations dealing with diverse customer base both face to face and remotely.
  • Experience of teamworking.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in healthcare, facilities management or another regulated environment
  • Experience of working within a general office or workshop undertaking administration duties
