Lived Experience Lead Culture of Care

Band 4

Job overview

Leeds and York Partnership Trust (LYPFT) is actively engaged in the Culture of Care programme; a national initiative focused on transforming the quality of mental health inpatient services. As part of this commitment, our inpatient wards are undertaking continuous quality improvement efforts aligned with the Culture of Care Standards. We currently have lived experience practitioners and peer support workers contributing within a number of clinical areas, and we are committed to broadening their presence across our services.

This role will champion coproduction approaches and Culture of Care to build and sustain infrastructure that embeds lived experience within inpatient wards. Additionally, the role will support trust-wide quality improvement initiatives linked to the Culture of Care programme, working collaboratively with other support services to promote a compassionate, inclusive, and continuously improving care environment.

This programme delivers a range of learning and networking opportunities, alongside coaching and training designed to support service transformation and development. A strong emphasis is placed on involving service users and experts by experience throughout. The post holder will play a key role in enabling service users and peer support workers to actively participate in the programme.

Main duties of the job

As a valued member of the Culture of Care project team, the Lived Experience Lead will play a vital role in delivering structured peer support and practical assistance to individuals accessing services. The postholder will help enable meaningful participation in Culture of Care initiatives, promoting service user choice, independence and access to opportunities both within the Trust and through collaboration with external agencies.

Working within a framework of mutual respect and open information sharing, the Lived Experience Lead will draw upon their own personal lived experience to offer insight and guidance that enriches project delivery. Their unique perspective will help shape the Culture of Care approach, ensuring it reflects and responds to the real-world experiences of service users.

The post will offer flexibility and is open to applications for full-time or part-time working.

This role involves regular travel between our sites located in Leeds and York, so candidates should be prepared for travel as a key part of the position.
