Job overview

An interesting and exciting opportunity has risen for Bank Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive individuals to join our healthcare team at HMP Liverpool. 

You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using your skills and experience to help define and deliver care to those with often complex needs. As well as providing excellent care to service users, you will also support and assist other staff within the team. Join us and you will play a central role within a committed and dynamic team that are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives.

Post holder must have NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalant.



Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the post holder will compliment and form a key part of the Multi-Disciplinary healthcare services within by providing high standards of individualised care for patients and supporting the operational requirements of delivering Prison Healthcare across Primary care, Mental Health and Substance misuse services to support the delivery of holistic care packages within our integrated services.

As a Bank Healthcare Support Worker you will operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting and supporting others in undertaking physical and/or health assessments, providing a range of health treatments and interventions in order to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of prison healthcare services. The post holder will exercise good clinical skills, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or currently studying in the final year of a degree in nursing.
  • OR NHS Care Certificate or relevant clinical experience.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstration of experience of working with people with complex health needs, in a health or social care setting.
  • Knowledge of nursing standards gained through NVQ qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of nursing practice and clinical procedures.
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge or experience of working within a prison or secured environment setting.
  • Experience of work in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Experience in responding to emergency situations
  • Experience in using SystmOne
