Main duties of the job
The New Hospital programme is looking for a Deputy Director of Service Delivery & Operations to drive forward key areas of delivery and operations. As Deputy Director, Service Delivery & Operations, you'll take the lead on:
- Business Case Leadership – Shape and maintain compelling business cases for HMT and wider programme.
- Cross cutting Delivery Integration Oversee enabling workstreams including energy, land, planning, utilities, carbon net zero, social value, and more.
- Continuous Improvement – Embed a culture of learning and collaboration across the Directorate, driving smarter delivery at every level

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Essential criteria
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Member of relevant professional body
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in collaborating with senior stakeholders and navigating complex environments
- Experience of business case content and process in a public sector environment
- Strong knowledge of delivery strategies, project management methodologies and best-practice, particularly within the health or public sectors
- Demonstrable experience of managing and prioritising a large budget with solid working knowledge of financial process requirement
- Understanding of NHS routes for approval and the relationships within the NHS and public sector bodies
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of London Property Planning

Essential criteria
- Strong ability to think strategically and align project development activity with the organisation’s priorities and requirements
- Ability to work on own initiative and organise workload, allocating work as necessary, working to tight and often changing deadlines
- High level analytical skills and the ability to draw qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources and present in a clear concise manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with clinical, academic and all levels of staff
- Strong ability to foster collaboration and integration cross multiple areas of the organisation, ensuring alignment to the overarching strategy
