Job overview

Healthcare porter required to assist the smooth running of a busy healthcare department within a secure environment. Based within secure environments, for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors, as well as to ensure the safe transportation of all goods and equipment.

Main duties of the job

  • Collecting documents from patients to be brought to healthcare
  • Ordering and maintaining stock/levels.
  • Escorting visitors to the department
  • Transporting urgent bloods and samples to local hospitals
  • General porter duties.

Education and Training

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Willingness to undertake any training relevant to the role
Desirable criteria
  • Health and Safety certificate

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a related customer/patient focussed environment
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment working as a porter
  • Previous experience of working in a secure environment
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of people
  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own workload
