Job overview

This is a very exciting opportunity for a qualified Dietitian to join our friendly and experienced dietetic team at Airedale General Hospital. The post-holder will be based at Airedale and will work alongside our dietetic team consisting of Dietitians, a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, Dietetic Assistants and admin support staff. 

This role will lead our dietetic provision to our Airedale Telemedicine for Health & Justice service. Airedale has led the way in providing telemedicine services and dietetics is one of the main contributors delivering expert dietetic advice to prisons across the country. This role will lead on how we develop this service going forward working alongside the healthcare teams within the prisons establishing and maintaining strong working relationships, and colleagues within Airedale including specialist consultants and the Airedale Telemedicine Team. The post provides expert dietetic advice and nutrition support for patients with a range of medical conditions. In addition, the postholder will work within the inpatient dietetic team working on adult wards across the trust including critical care, gastroenterology, stroke, elderly and general medicine, surgery and orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

Lead the dietetic telemedicine service, triaging referrals, leading on development opportunities and engaging and networking with the prison healthcare teams and multi-disciplinary team.
Manage a caseload of adult patients with a variety of medical conditions including nutrition support and gastroenterology.

Provide expert dietetic support to the adult acute team seeing patients with a variety of dietetic needs including parenteral and enteral nutrition and critical care.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant and recent experience working in a variety of clinical areas and settings
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working and working collaboratively with other professions and agencies
  • Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of taking part in or leading on projects/ service improvements
  • Experience of developing and implementing guidelines in own clinical area
  • Experience of taking part in audit or research projects
  • Experience in gastroenterology and/or critical care

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or Post-graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate courses relevant to nutrition and dietetics
