Job overview
Are you are interested in supporting patients who require enteral feeding due to a variety of different health conditions?
We are delighted to advertise this new post supporting our Adult and Paediatric Home enteral feeding teams at Airedale Hospital.
The post holder will provide a wide variety of administrative and clerical support to the Home Enteral Tube Feed Adult and Paediatric Dietetic Team. They will support a high standard of health care to Home Enteral Tube Fed (HETF) patients by assisting in and carrying out a range of duties with and on behalf of staff, patients and other health care professionals. They will provide elements of clinical support for which an agreed level of competency has been demonstrated under the direction of a Registered Dietitian.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills. We are looking for someone who is passionate about patient care, is proactive and thrives working as part of a team.

Fixed Term Contract: 2 years
Main duties of the job
- To provide administrative support to individual senior staff members in the Nutrition & Dietetic Home Enteral Tube Feed Team. This will require liaison with many professions including NHS professionals, nurses, clinicians, GPs, other professional bodies, members of the public. You will be required to liaise closely with the contracting team responsible for the provision of a Hospital to Home Feed Service, and to be able to converse regularly with patients regarding the service and equipment required for their needs.
- Be confident to direct patients for further advice to the most appropriate health care professional and, where appropriate, provide basic advice over the phone as the first point of call. This will include aspects of clinical care when training and competencies achieved.
- To be able to use/be willing to be trained on a range of different electronic systems including the system which has been devised by the appointed Home Enteral Tube Feed contractor to co-ordinate the service, including home service delivery, and related invoices and payments.
- Provide a high level of co-ordination and communication within the team. Be prepared to share this knowledge to other health care workers within the HETF arena (e.g. District Nursing, Children’s Community Team).
Working for our organisation
The Home Enteral Feeding team within the Nutrition and Dietetics Service provides dietetic support to adults and children who require enteral feeding within our community, throughout Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven. We are committed to providing a comprehensive and patient centred service to our patients. It is a small team with currently a Lead Home Enteral Feeding Dietitian and the postholder would work alongside this role. The team is based at Airedale General Hospital and therefore will work alongside a wider team of 13 Dietitians, 3 Dietetic Assistants and 2 clerical staff. The service operates core hours of 08.30 – 16.30 however there may be some flexibility to this as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RQF level 2 e.g. GCSE qualifications including Maths and English.
- RQF level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ3/A-levels in relevant subject.
Desirable criteria
- A RQF level 4/5 qualification(s) in a nutrition/dietetic related discipline such as a healthcare
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in health care/ social care/education
- Experience in use of IT applications
- Experience of working as part as a team, but also able to work independently where needed
Desirable criteria
- Experience of carrying out therapy /dietetic assessments
- Experience of working with people with complex health needs
Knowledge
