Job overview

Yorkshire Ambulance Service have an exciting opportunity as a Fleet Claims Officer within its Fleet Maintenance division .

This is a 11 month fixed term position in a busy department. 

This is an ideal role for somebody wanting to develop their existing claims , legal or insurance experience in a Blue Light NHS  organisation and role . 

The ideal candidate will have : 

Strong administration skills

A professional work ethic , and ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information. 

An understanding of claims and/ or insurance processes and educational or professional experience in handling claims or working in a legal or motor insurance background. 

Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service by managing stakeholder expectations throughout the claims journey and ensuring a positive customer experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate both face to face , and through a number of different forums and  accurately record and communicate information using applicable systems

Demonstrated focus on growing technical expertise relevant to the claims and insurance industry , staying informed about industry trends and best practices

Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, department, and across wider claims areas to achieve collective goals and performance targets. 

Main duties of the job

This role is an integral department and Trust position administering and managing all day to day processes associated with Fleet  Claims . 

This is a varied role which will deal with all fleet claims from the point of notification to settlement . Dealing with complex data and evidence . 

The post holder will communicate with claims handlers, insurers, solicitors , barristers and brokers and well as staff , stakeholders and the public to provide a professional , efficient and timely service  in line with legal , contractual and Trust requirements . 

The Fleet Claims Officer will administer motor claims and road related claims associated with the use and operation of all Trust Vehicles.

The claims officer will work  In accordance with the Trust’s Motor Insurance Policy, Driving at Work Policy and Claims handling procedures. 

They will quality check , review and collate essential evidence required for claims evaluation, settlement , litigation and disclosure. 

They will review , view , share  CCVT and systems data in line with Trust policy and legal requirements , and advise and provide information to driving standards as appropriate. 

They will discuss and review all cases with insurers and legal firms to ensure the most appropriate and achievable liability outcome is achieved for the Trust . 

They will administer their own workload with no supervision.

Essential criteria
  • Significant Claims experience
  • Experience of generating reports and providing management information to support organisation decision making
  • Experience of working closely with leadership of varying seniority
  • Experience in Blue Light Claims

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Will be educated to NVQ level 4 or Level 3 diploma or have equivalent experience
  • Previous Claims management experience in a Motor setting
  • Road risk qualification
  • Will hold GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
  • CII Chartered certificate in insurance
  • IOSH

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and document presentation skills
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to analyse situations where more than one outcome is possible
  • Familiar with administering incident reporting systems
  • Effective communication and organisational skills (both written and verbal) and ability to deal with people at all levels / challenge behaviours and use negotiating skills
