Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated, enthusiastic and caring Bereavement Officer to join the Mortuary and Bereavement service at Salisbury District Hospital.
The Mortuary and Bereavement service sits within the Pathology Department and works closely with the Histopathology service.
As a Band 4 Bereavement Officer you will have experience of working with the public and of the sharing of sensitive and upsetting information.
You will have proven communication skills in association with a commitment to training, quality management, continuous
professional development, health & safety and audit. The successful candidate must be quality driven and have a good understanding of how to deliver a service that meets the ISO 15189:2012 standards.
You will be joining our friendly team to provide day to day support to the families and relatives of deceased patients in our care.
You will work closely with the Pathology and Laboratory Management Team to ensure that the high quality service is maintained and bring ideas from your experience to help shape the service. Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to team working are essential.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve day to day interaction and organisation of families and relatives of deceased patients. Coordination of registration and issue of the medical certificate of cause of death (MCCD). Working with colleagues in bereavement services to ensure turn-around times are achieved and provide excellent service delivery. The post holder will report to the Mortuary and Bereavement manager.
