Qualification

Essential criteria

ACC qualified
In depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Experience in working with close attention to detail
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

Desirable criteria

Broad knowledge of medical terminology covering all acute specialties
Ability to analyse and abstract relevant information from hand written, electronic and printed records
Ability to search for and find medical conditions and procedures from international and national listings
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff to resolve coding problems
Ability to offer advice on coding to any staff or departments in the Trust and to other Health Care Organisations
Ability to work quickly to produce high quality work to tight time deadlines
Ability to work flexibly to meet the changing needs of the department
Experience in organising the workload without close supervision
