Clinical Coder

Band 5

Job overview

Clinical Coder (ACC qualified band 5) or Experienced Clinical Coder (Band 4 ) or Trainee Clinical Coder (band 3)

Are you an experienced or qualified Clinical Coder looking for your next challenge? - or an individual wishing to train and qualify as a Clinical Coder?  If so, we would like to hear from you as we are recruiting to our friendly Clinical Coding team

Working across all specialties within the Trust, we can offer you the opportunity to train as a Clinical Coder or to continue to develop extensive multi disciplined coding skills.

Our work is currently mainly office based but we do offer some hybrid coding on a rota basis. The Trust is due to implement a full Electronic Patient Record in 2027 which is an exciting time for our coders as full remote working will become an option.

Main duties of the job

Trained coders should have a track record of high quality coding, excellent communication skills and be prepared to mentor junior staff if the need arises.

Those wishing to train as a coder should evidence previous work that required close attention to detail and demonstrate a passion for learning new skills.

You will be responsible for the application of clinical codes for inpatients in any specialty in the Trust.

Please see attached Job description and person specification for full details of roles and responsibilities.

Working for our organisation

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) is an innovative hospital with a proud heritage and over 250 years of experience behind us. Here we’re driven to deliver an outstanding experience for everyone and have been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment we continue to provide for our patients and also our staff.

We have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service.  We think working here is pretty rewarding.  You can access a range of NHS discounts, receive a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme. On-site benefits include car parking (fee applies), leisure centre, day nursery and holiday play scheme.
