Job overview

We are seeking applications from a motivated individual to join the Clinical Science & Engineering team, as a Rehabilitation Engineering Technician on a one-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will:

  • Support the multidisciplinary Medical Engineering team 
  • Apply technical skills to support wheelchair & special seating clinics 
  • Manufacture of bespoke seating and rehabilitation aids using the mechanical workshop
  • Carry out wheelchair maintenance and repair

Predominantly the service operates from the purpose-built Medical Engineering facility, but there would be a requirement to travel to satellite clinics.

  • Empathetic to our patients and service users
  • Good customer service

Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering workshop practice including metal work and wood working skills

Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a clinical setting with patients

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • City & Guilds/Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work based experience. Score 1 if Level 2 qualifications only)

  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Computer Literate to a good standard
