Job overview

An Exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 nurse to join our dynamic team on the Acute Medical Unit.  The Acute Medical Unit is a busy and high pressured environment, meaning the successful candidates will need to have great leadership skills, be able to work under pressure & be able to work autonomously.

The post holder will support junior team members in the delivery of a high standard of nursing practice. They will deputise for the ward manager & will support the leadership and management of the department with particular emphasis on clinical standards. 

You will be expected to be a good role model to junior staff and be highly motivated to implement high standards of patient focused care, you will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, be punctual and be a good team player.

With such a high turn over of patients no two days are the same, if you are looking for a new challenge and are looking to work in a friendly established team where you are valued and given opportunities to develop then this is the role for you.

Previous experience at band 6 level is preferred but not required all training will be provided & support will be given to help you develop, You should have at least 2 years Band 5 experience.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising a variety of shifts, communicating effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team and managing the work load whilst effectively delegating tasks.

You will Participate in the overall running and management of the ward including completing audits, rota's, ensuring systems are updated appropriately along with answering complaints and implementing new policies and procedures.

You will provide clinical leadership ensuring a high standard of evidence based individualised nursing whilst promoting a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff

You will be expected to partake in the supervision & mentorship of pre/post registration students & junior staff .

You will assist with any local or trust initiatives to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care

Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff implementing trust incentives around infection control and prevention

You will be responsible for adhering to the sickness and absence policy and will complete return to work interviews.
