Job overview

The post holder will have a critical role in the co-ordination of safety within Neonatal services and will focus on the risk and governance activities which demonstrate high quality, effective clinical care which places safety and a positive patient experience at the centre of their neonatal service experience. The post holder will work closely with the Maternity Quality and Safety team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a leadership role within a multidisciplinary team working within the Family and Support Services (FASS) division with the objective of protecting babies, staff members and the public from risk.

 The post holder will provide professional leadership and managerial advice and support to all staff and manage neonatal adverse incident reporting systems working closely with the Maternity Quality and Safety team and the Trust Risk Management Department.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Current RN/M registration with NMC with 2 years clinical experience
  • Relevant post registration qualifications in speciality (QIS)
  • Post qualification recognised training in risk management or demonstrated willingness and ability to undertake this training.
  • Working knowledge of issues currently impacting on Neonatal Services including governances processes and local and national agendas directing neonatal care.
  • Ability to provide evidence of continuing personal and professional development in key areas: clinical practice, education, and health service management.
  • Excellent communication skills both written, verbal and non-verbal, with the ability to overcome barriers to communication.
  • Evidence of effective and collaborative working within teams.
  • Relevant post registration qualification in education or mentorship
  • Ability to reflect upon and critically analyse own and others sphere of neonatal practice and constructively analyse clinical experiences
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, knowledge and experience in order to enhance effective and efficient neonatal care
Desirable criteria
  • Masters’ qualification in education related subject or the willingness to undertake further education
  • Leadership and Management training
  • Knowledge and experience of Quality Improvement
