Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior clinical fellow in Fertility within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Salisbury NHSFT. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the fertility team with the opportunity to train in all aspects of fertility. Salisbury Fertility Centre is an HFEA registered Assisted Conception unit that offers a full range of assisted conception. The post would be ideal for someone wishing to gain experience in assisted conception techniques. The unit is recognised for training in management of the infertile couple and in assisted conception by the British Fertility Society. 

Main duties of the job

The post requires some service provision including being part of a 1:7 out of hours on call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. During the day (up to midnight) you will be supported by a FY2/ST1/ST2.  There is a non-resident consultant out of hours.

This post is for 12 months but there may be opportunity to extend for longer depending on the needs of the department.

Essential criteria
  • Equivalent of ST4+ level of training as per the RCOG matrix Application Form
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the NHS. Evidence of an ambition to pursue this fertility as a subspecialty
  • Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems; demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach
  • Ability to perform effectively as a member of a team, including a multidisciplinary team and to motivate and develop staff
  • Commitment to active clinical governance and learning from errors
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstration of an interest and commitment to teaching
  • Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and others. Enthusiastic and ability to inspire others
  • Experience in, and commitment to clinical audit
  • Ability to appraise research critically and apply research outcomes to clinical problems
