Main duties of the job

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead Daily Operations: Take charge of the day-to-day delivery of our aseptic dispensing service, ensuring efficient and safe use of resources, establishing capacity, and timely preparation of clinically appropriate medications.
  • Optimize Aseptic Services: Play a key role in organizing and managing aseptic services to guarantee that products meet their intended use, resources are utilized effectively, and products are delivered promptly.
  • Ensure Compliance: Collaborate with the Aseptic Services Accountable Pharmacist to provide professional expertise and ensure our services comply with Section 10 Exemption and National Standards (QAAPs), maintaining a safe aseptic environment.
  • Train and Develop Staff: Implement and oversee training programs in aseptic preparation, ensuring that all staff members are fully equipped to perform their duties safely, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Drive Innovation and Improvement: Lead project and development work within the aseptic dispensing service, fostering continuous improvement and adherence to high standards.
  • Advance and Lead: Upon achieving key objectives and advancing to Band 8a, take on the responsibility of line-managing an assigned Band 6 Pharmacist, guiding them towards excellence

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Pharmacy Master’sDegree (4 years) + 1 year pre-registration training
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy at diploma level or similar
  • MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) for Band 8a or equivalent academic achievements or experience
  • Pharmacist registered with General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates ongoing CPD relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of Aseptic Services (SACTs/CIVAs/PN services), and related pharmacological therapies for Band 8
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of SACTs/CIVAs/PN services and related pharmacological therapies
  • PTQA
  • Proven record of recognising opportunities to develop or improve a service area for
