Main duties of the job

To assist the Lead QA technician and the Aseptic Services accountable pharmacist to develop the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS) for Aseptic Services including but not limited to document control systems, deviation management and quality review.

To carry out Quality control (QC) for all imported or outsourced products compounded by Specials Manufacturing Aseptic Unit external to the Trust.

To work within defined standard operating procedures where work is managed rather than supervised by the Lead QA technician or the Aseptic Services accountable pharmacist.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • BTEC and NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent technician qualification recognised by the GPhC for the purpose of registration).
  • Registered as a Pharmaceutical Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of external accredited course in Technical Services, Quality Assurance or relevant area.
  • Accredited checking pharmacy technician or equivalent qualification
  • Recognised Accredited Aseptics Technician Checking Qualification for Pre and In-process Checking and Final Product Approval and Release

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant post qualification experience including hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience at any grade in aseptic services or dispensary.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in aspects of quality assurance relevant to the post
  • Experience training staff.
