Job overview
At Wessex Rehab, we go beyond standard outpatient rehabilitation. Within the spacious facility you’ll find a large gym and private treatment areas, as well as our more unusual therapy spaces including a bouldering wall, industrial workshop and hydrotherapy pool. Patients referred to our facility have often suffered significant; life changing physical injuries and have undergone advanced and interesting surgical reconstruction.
As part of the multi-disciplinary specialist team, you’ll treat patients with a range of injuries and conditions affecting Upper Limb and Lower Limbs and also patient with long term pain conditions.
You will assist in the delivery of tailored rehabilitation programmes in both 1:1 and group environments. It is essential that you enjoy working with other therapists and approach complex problems with optimism and flexibility. The post holder will spend multiple sessions per week with each service user and will be expected to support therapists as they guide them from the acute stage, through advanced rehab and toward long term goals including return to work and sports participation.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Wessex Rehab therapy team in providing a high standard of specialist rehabilitation to patients from a range of complex trauma, chronic pain and limb loss referral pathways.
To deliver and adapt patient’s therapy treatment plans within boundaries as agreed with the senior therapist.
To run group and 1:1 exercise and activity sessions in a variety of locations, including the gym, industrial workshop, kitchen and garden spaces.
To work under the supervision of an HCPC registered therapist (PT / OT) to deliver prescribed treatments across professional disciplines.
To participate in multi-disciplinary discussions
To develop and maintain the skills necessary to meet the requirements of the post, utilising a variety of learning opportunities
To carry out administrative tasks as required to support the Wessex Rehab service

Education
Essential criteria
- A qualification at Level 2 in the QCF or NVQ framework in a relevant subject, or equivalent
- Qualifications in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- QCF or NVQ Level 3 in Therapeutic or Diagnostic Support or related topic, or other relevant training eg A-Levels
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a role with direct patient / client contact
Desirable criteria
- Experience of dealing with the emotional and physical needs of patients or others
- Recent experience of working in a therapy or nursing support worker role or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to learn, teach and implement physical skills
- Ability to undertake basic administrative tasks eg photocopying, filing and answering the telephone
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of human anatomy and normal function
