Job overview

The Rheumatology Specialist Nurse plays a pivotal role in the development and delivery of a high-quality specialist rheumatology service, ensuring excellent clinical outcomes and patient experience.

The post holder will demonstrate an enhanced level of professional accountability, autonomy, and clinical judgement, undertaking complex decision-making across a broad range of clinical situations and conditions. They will be responsible for managing clinical practice within the Rheumatology Service and will contribute significantly to service development, innovation, and the delivery of evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Rheumatology Specialist Nurse will provide and receive complex, sensitive, and occasionally distressing information with compassion and professionalism. They will build effective relationships with patients, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and external organisations to support coordinated, patient-centred care. 

Provide specialist advice, education, and emotional support to patients and carers regarding rheumatological conditions and treatment pathways.

  • Minimum 1 years’ NHS experience at Band 6 within Rheumatology

  • Previous Band 7 Rheumatology CNS NHS experience
