Band 5

Job overview

The Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Bowel Screening Programme is seeking to a Screening Practitioners (SPs) to join our team at Salisbury District Hospital.

The bowel screening service addresses the needs of individuals aged between 54 and 75 who have an abnormal test result from a home screening kit. Plans are in place to extend this age group to 50 in the next year.

As an established SP the opportunity may arise to go on to develop the role to progress to an SSP band 6, where much of the training would have already been completed.

Applicants must be a registered general nurse with appropriate knowledge and experience. Specific training will be provided. Our programme delivers screening services from three hospitals – RUH, GWH and SDH. While some travel between sites will be required, work patterns are primarily in normal working hours.  Bank holiday working is not required.

Main duties of the job

SP's s are expected to support  the SSP's  within the bowel screening service  with the day to day running of the service, caring for participants with an abnormal FIT test result and within the BCSP surveillance programmes.

As a registered, accountable, and autonomous nurse you are to always act in the best interests of your patients and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions. See job description for full list of duties.
