Are you a compassionate and motivated nurse with a passion for paediatric care? We’re looking for a Band 5 Paediatrics Staff Nurses to join our dedicated Children’s Emergency Department team, where every day brings new challenges and every action makes a difference.
This role is offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, giving you flexibility to balance your career with your lifestyle.
- 🌙 You’ll be expected to work the full spectrum of shifts, which includes long days, long nights, and twilight hours.
- ⏱ Each shift lasts 11 hours and 45 minutes, and we do not operate short shifts.
- ✅ Flexibility and commitment to covering all shift types is essential

Main duties of the job
What we’re looking for?
- Registered Nurse (Children’s) with current NMC registration.
- A confident, compassionate communicator with excellent clinical judgement.
- A team player with a flexible approach and a genuine passion for paediatric emergency nursing.
- Previous experience in an emergency setting is desirable but not essential, we welcome nurses looking to transition into paediatrics emergency nursing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care to a defined patient group within the acute hospital. They are responsible for the assessment, development, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role.
The post holder will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes. The post holder will be expected to continue with their own professional development.

Essential criteria
- First Level Registered Children's Nurse
- Current/live registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 Safeguarding Children
- FLAP Course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience nursing children in an acute / community setting or recently completed a Return to Paediatric Nursing course
- Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing knowledge and practice after qualification and Preceptorship
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
