Job overview

Do you enjoy working in a busy environment where no two shifts are the same?

Would you like to work in a highly supportive team with excellent opportunities for development and progression?

If so, our Minor Injury Units are the place for you!

Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have four Nurse/Paramedic led Minor Injury Units, in Whitchurch, Oswestry, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, that treat approximately 3000 patients across the service per month, making a real difference, providing care closer to home and avoiding admission to hospital wherever possible and appropriate. Our aim is to closely integrate with the Primary Care Network and acute hospitals to widen the conditions we are able to support within our units.

Please note this vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications are received, we advise you submit your application early to avoid disappointment.

Main duties of the job

  • To work with other Emergency Practitioners, the Team Lead and Clinical Service Manager and other team leaders/managers within the Trust to proactively support the development and redesign of care pathways, embracing the concept of care closer to home and expanding/enhancing multi-disciplinary/multi agency working for people with minor injuries.
  • Promotes a can-do attitude and a determination to develop and sustain a dynamic operational MIU service which delivers best practice. Gain valid informed consent and work within legal frameworks with patients.
  • Act at all times in accordance with NMC/HCPC Codes of Conduct and standards of proficiency in a manner that is consistent with Trust values.
  • Be responsible and accountable for autonomous assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of those presenting to an MIU to include a variety of previously undiagnosed and frequently complex acute injuries where a range of treatment options may be appropriate.
  • As a bank team member you will be expected to be up and running as an ENP/ECP with a vast experience in urgent and emergency care, including x-ray interpretation.
