Job overview

The Surgical Directorate currently has a vacancy for a Permanent Part Time  Admin and Typing Clerk supporting the Ophthalmology Team.

 Duties will be to support Secretarial Staff within the Surgical Specialties of the Surgical Directorate; providing an efficient, accurate and prompt clerical support service to the assigned office.  A good standard of education is required along with excellent keyboard skills and computer literacy.

The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team, with the ability to remain calm and work well in times of pressure.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an efficient high quality typing and administration service to support the medical secretarial team. Support the team in the management of patient’s medical case notes and effective filing system and supporting the patients along the defined patient pathway. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • Typewriting / Word Processing Qualification - or equivalent experience
  • GCSE English
Desirable criteria
  • RSA II in typing / word processing – or equivalent Qualification
  • NVQ 2
  • ECDL
  • Audio typing qualification

Experience

  • General experience of secretarial or administrative functions

  • Experience of working within the NHS (hospital environment)
