Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk within our Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) unit.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, who will be innovative, adaptable and a positive member of our friendly and expanding team. AEC is within the Emergency Quadrant and is an area of continuous development. We are a service that specialises in acute medicine and emergency admissions from GPs and the Emergency Department, providing same day emergency care to patients, aiming to reduce hospital admissions and waiting times. We are open weekdays (excluding bank holidays).
Main duties of the job
The position involves maintaining the high standards the role demands. The successful candidate will possess:
- Ability to communicate on all levels and work as part of a team.
- Excellent telephony skills, able to receive and respond courteously to all telephone enquiries regarding patient care.
- Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft suit of programs.
- Excellent organisation and administration skills.
- Be able to work independently and prioritise work.
- Adhere to trust values and beliefs.
- Previous ward clerk experience and knowledge of the Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for these posts; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
