You will work to help Sirona care & health meet the Accessibility Information Standard. This includes publishing accessibility statements, improving services and explaining how accessible our websites are.

 The Accessible Communications & Engagement Assistant role sits within Sirona’s Communications team. You will work across the organisation and so the successful applicant will also have a strong strategic connection to the Partnerships and Community Development team and Head of Patient Experience.

 You will be managed by our Accessible Communications & Engagement Lead and oversee the production of patient and service user information, in print and digital formats.

 You will support the Accessible Information Steering Group to ensure accessibility needs are met across all  communications channels, including our Electronic Patient Records systems.

And also support the Accessible Information Steering Group Lead and the Digital and Publications Lead to ensure the published accessibility statement for our websites is regularly reviewed and updated. The postholder will need to be highly credible and confident and be able to work with a wide range of colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will support:

  • Development and delivery of Sirona care & health's accessibility strategy
  • Staff training on the Accessible Information Standards Policy
  • Administration of the Accessible Information Steering Group
  • Production of all accessible information - in print and digital formats - to be in Plain Language, confident in using co-production techniques, and producing Easy Read formats 
  • Governance and management of all accessible information
  • Campaigns activity that champions People's Experience (e.g. Carer’s Week, Learning Disability Week).

In addition the postholder will support the translation and interpreting contract, will undertake any other reasonable duties as required for the role, and follow all communications team procedures and protocols.

  • Educated to A-level of equivalent

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of design and print production techniques

  • Knowledge of the Accessible Information Standard

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent writing and proof reading skills and the ability to convey messages to a variety of audiences, including those with visual, hearing or physical impairments
  • Keyboard skills for publications, presentations and processing documents
  • Able to manage own workload and make decisions on competing priorities

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of producing engaging digital content including videos and infographics
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of delivering accessible communications
  • Experience in a similar role

Personal attributes

Essential criteria
  • Committed to supporting high-quality patient and service user care and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Holds a full UK drivers license and has access to a vehicle
