Job overview
We are looking for a Deputy Information Governance Manager to support the delivery of a robust information governance framework; implementing IG initiatives/regulations and codes of practise across Sirona care & health.
The postholder will provide specialist knowledge on all aspects of information governance including data protection, confidentiality, information security, records management, information risk, ensuring compliance with legislation, national NHS guidance and regulatory requirements.
The role incorporates responsibility for the strategic and operational management of patients/service users and corporate records across the organisation. This includes ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and NHS standards, improving records systems and processes and supporting safe, efficient and confidential handling of information.
The role includes operational leadership, staff support and deputising for the Data Protection Officer/Information Governance Manager as required.
Main duties of the job
- To provide managerial leadership for Information Governance. Maintaining an overall view of IG activities within the Organisation ensuring that responsibilities and accountabilities are formally defined, communicated and acted upon.
- To act as deputy to the Head of Information Governance/Data Protection Officer.
- To support the development, implementation and monitoring of the organisation’s IG
- To monitor, develop, and review IG strategies, policies and systems, to ensure appropriate compliance with relevant national legislation and NHS guidance; ensuring that associated risk is successfully managed.
- Be a source of information and expertise on information governance including EU and national legislation & Information Commissioner directives to senior managers, clinical teams and corporate services.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Recent experience of the Data Protection Act 2018 / UK General Data Protection Regulation and other key information legislation
- Strong knowledge of the NHS Records Management Code of Practice.
- Recent experience in information governance assurance frameworks and delivering to the required standard of quality assurance and audit.
- Recent experience of working in Information Governance roles in the NHS r equivalent organisations with similar complexity of IG requirements
- Experience of handling complex IG incidents and legal data requests.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of completing or supporting Data Security and Protection Toolkit submissions.
- Line management or supervisory experience.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent experience in Information Governance, Information Management, Law or similar related field
- Information Governance or Dta Protection qualification e.g. ISEB, BCS or equivalent)

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
