Job overview
Our two aseptic units are staffed by enthusiastic and committed teams delivering a high number of doses daily across both sites to various specialties. Imperial has one of only three gestational trophoblastic disease centres nationwide.
As a cancer and aseptic services pharmacist, you will be supporting a patient-centred service which is compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice.

You’ll also play a core role in our ward based service, directly supporting colleagues and patients in line with Trust procedures and national legislation. You will also have the opportunity to develop your management skills through the supervision of our Band 6 rotational pharmacists. Applicants should have excellent organisational and communication skills and be happy to work independently or in a team.
Applicants need at least 1 year post-registration training and experience in Hospital Pharmacy including previous experience in at least one of the relevant areas.
Main duties of the job
- Play an active role in the day to day running of our aseptic units by managing the final checking workload and releasing of chemotherapy safely to the day unit.
- Be responsible for supervising the training and accreditation of junior pharmacists rotating into aseptics.
- Become familiar with the Chemocare e-prescribing system; supporting prescribers, nurses and pharmacy staff with its use.
- Once accredited - screen SACT prescriptions for oncology, haematology and clinical trials.
- Work closely with a wide range of healthcare professionals to ensure SACT is prescribed safely and efficaciously.
- Proactively support foundation and practice level band 6 pharmacists carrying out the PG Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.
- Provide cover for the Lead Pharmacist, Aseptic Services as requested.
