Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for permanent post as Band 6 Practitioner in the Mental Health Liaison Team for The Bay area, based in Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The successful candidate will oversee assessments and treatment for patients on the MHLT pathway and clinical delivery of the service which will involve, offering timely and responsive assessments, working collaboratively with service users and their families, delivering high quality evidence based approaches to care, and delivering collaborative care – plans and risk assessments based on least restrictive practice. Furthermore, being committed to delivering quality and being able to reflect on the importance of the service user journey and experience is critically important to this role.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to serve the whole of the multi-racial and multi-cultural community of The Bay area and demonstrable values and commitment to diversity and anti-discriminatory practice. This will require the successful applicant to be a leader, mentor, teacher and role model. The role is comprehensive and will require a clear understanding of the Mental Health Act 2007 and will require a detailed knowledge of all aspects of Adult Safeguarding.

Regular line management and clinical supervision will be offered, and we will actively look at developing the successful applicant this exciting role. This post is a 24/7 post including night shifts.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse / OT/ SW (Mental Health) – current Registration.
- Evidence of professional updating and development in the nursing care of patients in an acute or community setting.
- Diploma in Professional Studies (Nursing) - or equivalent.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A minimum of two years post-registration mental health nursing experience.
- Involvement in innovative nursing practice and multi-cultural nursing environments.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Skills in assessing, planning and evaluating mental health nursing interventions.
- Skills in interacting therapeutically with distressed and/or disturbed individuals.
- Skill in audit and quality assurance programmes.
- Skills in teaching, supervision and self-appraisal.
