Job overview
We are seeking a self-motivated, patient/service focused individual to join our existing team of Pharmacy Assistants working within the dispensary.
Facilitating the smooth flow of work through the dispensary making sure all people involved in the process, including patients and staff are provided with necessary information to ensure that patient’s medication supply needs are met as a priority.
Operating computer systems based in the dispensary and provides administrative and clerical support for dispensary related work.
Main duties of the job
Assist in the labelling, dispensing and preparation of prescriptions which have been clinically checked by a pharmacist ready for final checking and in the supply of pharmaceutical products ensuring patients medication supply needs are met as a priority.
Operates computer systems necessary for dispensing and ensures all information relating to dispensed items is accurate and documented/stored appropriately.
Duties include reception work, dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the dispensary is adequately stocked with supplies and some housekeeping duties. Previous experience of working in this type of environment and with computers would be an advantage and we especially welcome applications from people who are currently able to dispense, though this is not essential, as appropriate training will be provided.
You will be required to undertake the QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services. For this reason we prefer applicants to have GCSE grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English language. The opportunity to attend other appropriate courses may be possible.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services or willingness to undertake and achieve NVQ Level 2 within 12 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
- GCSE pass or equivalent in Maths and English Language

- Familiar with drug names
- Worked in a similar environment either in a hospital or chemist
- Experience of working with computers
