An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated band 4 Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join our pharmacy team on at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

We are looking for a progressive and proactive Senior Pharmacy Assistant with strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Applicants must be self-motivated and organised. You will be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team and contribute to the process of service development and innovation by your own initiative and enthusiasm.

As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant within the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd pharmacy team, you will have the opportunity to develop a truly excellent, person-centred care pharmacy service at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Particularly key to the role will be the multi-disciplinary engagement and coordinating the safe and effective flow of work through the dispensary.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for coordinating the safe and effective flow of work through the dispensary ensuring all people involved in the process, are provided with necessary information to ensure that patient’s medication supply needs are met, under the direction of the Senior Pharmacy Technician – Patient Services
 
Actively manage, supervise and co-ordinate pharmacy assistants including staff appraisal, work allocation, sickness and annual leave management.
 
Assist in training of pharmacy staff working in the dispensary and satellite pharmacy areas.
 
Operate pharmacy systems to carry out tasks in an accurate, timely manner, provide administrative and clerical support for dispensary related work. Including being lead responsible person to facilitate the use of the pharmacy tracker system ensuring a safe, efficient pharmacy service is provided while delivering the highest quality care.
 
Assist in recruitment of staff, delivery of KPIs, production of rotas and production of reports using the pharmacy tracker system and Work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
 
Assist in management and delivery of near patient medicines management to inpatients across BCUHB sites.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English grade C or above.
  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
  • Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 2 qualification or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
Desirable criteria
  • Support staff accuracy checking qualification, or willing to work towards.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Has worked in a dispensary area of a hospital pharmacy department.
  • Experience of leading a team, training and mentoring staff.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team environment. Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators.
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work to targets.
  • Conflict resolution experience.

  • Team Player.
  • Ability to organise rotas and prioritise workloads, manage own time/tasks and those of others.
  • Able to solve routine day to day problems.
