Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a member of the Research and Development team in BCUHB.
The role will provide research pathology support for staff across the organisation in order to manage, with the support of the Research team, all research governance and processes which need completing on behalf of the organisation.
It is expected that the role will be worked from Ysbyty Glan Clwyd mostly with the possibility of working on other sites.
The role will provide a comprehensive laboratory support for the Research and Development Department and provide advice and support to all staff within the organisation who are involved in undertaking research. This post will also develop your personal understanding of research, and give you an opportunity to work across BCUHB with a range of different staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To assist with the pathology support of clinical research across BCUHB. As an integrated member of the research team, provide laboratory support to the delivery of the local and national research agenda.
Regular travel between NHS and other sites within BCUHB will be required.

Qualification and / or knowledge
Essential criteria
- Diploma level qualification in Pathology or clinical subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- ECDL or equivalent
- Willingness to participate in CPD
- Previous knowledge of R and D and Pathology EQA systems
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working within a pathology or clinical environment
- Previous experience of working with POCT and R and D systems
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Works well as part of a team, but also autonomously
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to use computer software packages
- Ability to use spreadsheets and databases
Other
Essential criteria
- Flexible and adaptable to meet all aspects of the departments work
- Ability to travel within the geographical area
