Job overview

We are excited to be able to offer a new Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner role within the BCUHB wide Level 3 Paediatric Weight Management Team. This relatively new service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping children and families to join the MDT.

You will work alongside the therapists to help break down barriers (whatever they may be!) to help children engage and set small, sustainable goals to improve their health whilst they attend the 12 month Help Me To Be Healthy programme. Obesity in children is multifactorial so a flexible approach will be needed to tailor support for each child and address their specific needs. These may be a mixture of emotional, mental or/and physical so nutritional, exercise/activity and healthy lifestyle elements are addressed.

Main duties of the job

The role involves daily administration tasks, coordination and planning of service delivery and regular supervision of assistants. It also involves delivery of group sessions, mainly virtual, some 1:1 work and close liaison with the wider MDT. The successful applicant will have a natural quality improvement approach and help the wider team support ongoing changes which will ultimately enable beneficial outcomes for the children on the programme.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
