A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Dietetic Assistant to facilitate the delivery of the Level 2 Adult Weight Management Service across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). The service aligns to the All Wales Weight Management Pathway at Level 2, and offers evidence based opportunities for people in North Wales who wish to lose weight to improve their health.

Main duties of the job

The Dietetic Assistant will support the Dietitians in their development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of best practice in relation to the Level 2 Weight Management Service across the Health Board, working as an integral member of, and in partnership with multi-agency teams. The current team includes a Service Lead, Team Lead Dietitians, Specialist Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Admin support, working across the Health Board.

You will also remain a key member of the wider dietetic team, joining an enthusiastic and friendly team of over 80 dietitians and assistants delivering services in acute and primary care, and public health and delivering clinical placements for students.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ related to Health & Social Care, or working towards, (or equivalent); Documented evidence of participation in training activities
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional body and/or special interest group. Degree in nutrition related subject.

Experience / Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the role of the Dietitian. Relevant experience working within health, social or education settings. Basic knowledge of some conditions that could impact upon nutrition and weight in adults, relevant to the role. Self-motivation for Continued Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working directly with people. Experience in clinical and/ or catering establishment. Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance. Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.
