As a Podiatry apprenticeship you will work in a wide range of specialities, alongside qualified Podiatrists based in a community setting.  This will include working in primary care centres, outpatient clinics, inpatient ward settings, intermediate care and domiciliary visits. 

To complete the academic requirements of the apprenticeship we will collaborate with University of Northampton. Thus, you will be expected to attend face-to-face sessions as set by the university over 2 semesters per year. You will also be required to work alongside your mentor to meet specific competencies throughout the 3-year course. 

Main duties of the job

  1. The post holder is employed by the Trust to complete the Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship. The University course provider shall be selected and commissioned by the Trust.
  2. As an apprentice the post holder will attend university as specified to complete all required modules of study and undertake clinical competencies within different BCHC Trust Services. This is in order to gain a range of clinical experience across different health and social care settings.
  3. During the apprenticeship period the post holder will work under the guidance of an appropriately assigned Podiatrist mentor, participating in the provision of care for people who use the service in which they are based.
  4. The post holder will continuously develop their skills and ability as they progress through the degree programme so that on completion, they will become a professionally qualified Podiatrist and be eligible to register with the HCPC.
  5. The apprentice is responsible for informing their Clinical Educator and mentor, University and Line Manager of all episodes of sickness and absence in line with the Trust & University Policies.
