Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join our Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team within the Sandwell and  West Birmingham locality.

The Perinatal team offers support to women experiencing moderate to severe mental illness during the perinatal period (through pregnancy to 12 months post natal). In addition to this service there is an existing inpatient Mother & Baby Unit located in the Barberry, National Centre for Mental Health. We also work alongside our local maternity services within antenatal mental health liaison clinics.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering care to women in a range of community settings as well as the local maternity unit. The ability to work flexibly in multidisciplinary teams and in a range of settings is therefore essential.

Main duties of the job

The Trust welcomes applications from all areas of the community, who meet the specific criteria of the post regardless of age, gender, disability, religion/ belief or sexual orientation. As part of our commitment to support our local community, we warmly welcome applications from candidates who can speak an Asian language.

The post holder must have access to a vehicle for work purposes. They should hold a valid registration with a relevant professional body.
